Because we are filling up in January, we are asking teams to get at least 5 players registered per team by June 1st to help guarantee that they are coming and to allow us to contact teams on the waiting list so they have time to make travel arrangements, or release their players to other teams. If you are going to have any problems with this request, please contact the Huntsman World Senior Games Office.
REGISTRATION RULES:
• Participation is limited to 100 teams per session.
• Teams will commonly exchange gifts and gifts are acceptable to give.
• There are no residency requirements for team members.
• Age division of team is determined by the age of the youngest player.
• Teams may ‘play down’ in a lower age division.
• Teams must register by September 1 – no exceptions! Register online or call Huntsman World Senior Games office (800-562-1268) for forms.
• Individual team members must register by September 1.
• Team members will be required to enter their team number when registering.
• As players register and input the team number they are added to their team's roster.
• Teams with less than 6 players on their roster on September 1 may be canceled and there will be no refund.
• Participants may play on only one team in each Session.
• Participants who play on two teams (in different sessions) must pay two Sport Fees ($35 per person for each team).
• After September 1 changes can be made to the team roster by calling the Huntsman World Senior Games office (800-562-1268). All rosters are final at the Captains Meetings unless approved by the director.
• Schedules will be available here as soon as they are available.
FORMAT / RULES:
USAV rules will govern play
Uniform Rules:
• Team Captains must supply uniform numbers for all players prior to their first match.
• Up to two libero's may be designated per set.
• Only one libero is allowed to be in the game at one time.
• The libero is allowed to serve. View official rule on libero serving
• The libero must wear a uniform that is clearly contrasting in comparison to the color of the regular jersey color of the other team members in accordance with USAV rule 19.2.
• Teams must have uniforms of identical shirts with permanent numbers 1-99 (minimum size: 4” on front, 6” on back). Numbers should be centered from side to side on the front and back of the jersey and located on the upper half.
• Teams must wear similarly colored shorts.
• Teams will be supplied balls for warm up and games. Don't bring any outside balls into the games.
• Net Height: Women 50+ = 7' 2-1/8", Men 50-54 = 7' 11-5/8", Men 55-69 = 7' 9-5/8", Men 70+ = 7' 6"
Substitutions and Number of Players:
• Teams are allowed 12 substitutions per set with unlimited entries per individual per rule 15.6. More than one substitute may enter the set in each position.
• A team must start the match with 6 players. If after starting, a team is reduced to less than 6 players, a team will be allowed to play with 5 players. Specific procedures for playing with 5 players will be provided at the tournament desk.
Format:
• Tachikara SV-5W Gold is the official volleyball game ball. If both teams agree on a different game ball, a different ball can be used.
• The first two and a half days of play will consist of pool play followed by double elimination championship play. All teams will play at least one match on the final day.
• Seeding or challenge matches (or sets) are still considered to be part of the pool play.
• Only players who play on a team during pool play are eligible to play on that same team during championship play.
• Initial pool seeding will be based on previous years’ Huntsman World Senior Games results wherever possible.
• All pool play will consist of 2 sets to 25 points, win by 2 points, no cap. If in pool play, a team is scheduled to play more than 16 sets, the points per set may be reduced.
• Bracket play will consist of match play, the best 2 out of 3 sets to 25 points, win by 2 points, no cap; third set to 15 points, win by 2 points, no cap.
• A full tournament guarantees each team will play a minimum of 16 sets with some teams playing 20 or more.
• Based on the number of teams, Championship play will be divided into skill divisions (i.e. Gold, Silver and Bronze).
• Participants must present their Huntsman World Senior Games ID Badges to the referee prior to each match, if requested.
• The tournament director reserves the right to make tournament adjustments as the situation dictates.
• Seven or eight is the ideal number of teams for a pool. If a division has more or less teams than that number, every effort will be made to adjust teams into the appropriate level. Teams may be asked for what they feel is their appropriate playing level, but the tournament director reserves the right to make adjustments to all divisions.
• If a team intentionally forfeits a set or match, they may be removed from the tournament at the discretion of the Tournament Directors.
Tie Breaking Procedures:
• At the end of pool play, teams will be seeded into a specific bracket as identified on the pre-tournament format sheet.
• Teams will be seeded based on Set Percentage and if necessary, point percentage
• In case of a Tie in Set Percentage:
1. If 2 teams are tied, head-to-head results will be used.
2. If the 2 teams did not play each other head-to-head, overall Point Percentage will be used
3. If 2 or more teams are tied, overall Point Percentage will be used.
4. If teams are still tied, then a coin toss.
Team Officiating Duties:
A professional referee will be provided for all matches. Teams will be assigned to work as the officiating team for some matches during their pool play (approximately 2-3 times per day). Teams must provide a second referee, one scorer, one libero tracker and two line judges. The second referee must have a whistle. MEDALS:
In each division, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to all players on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams, respectively. Medals will be awarded immediately following the championship matches.
