REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
Early Bird Deadline (save $40) – August 1
Final Registration Deadline – September 1
REGISTRATION RULES:
Participation is limited to the first 200 registered athletes.
Athletes must check in at the Dixie Center before competing.
FORMAT/RULES:
Top Rope/Lead Climbing:
Athletes will have four hours to do as many climbs as they would like for each event. Their top four climbs will count towards their total score. For each event and division, the highest total score will win gold.
Athletes will be awarded points based on the difficulty of their climbs (ex. 5.6 will get you 600 points, 5.7 will get you 700 points, etc).
In order to get full points for a climb, the climb must be completed without any falls or takes. A ‘take’ is defined as the climber putting weight on the belay rope, even if their hands and feet are still on the wall. Any falls or takes will result in the climber being lowered to the ground. A climber may attempt any route multiple times from the ground only.
Assessments for proficiency in operating top rope and lead climbing safety systems must be completed before the event begins. Climbers may pass their assessments on either of the recommended practice days or anytime sooner.
Speed Climbing:
Speed climbing takes place on a dedicated speed route based on the IFSC 11 meter speed climbing standardized route. There will be a single line available, so only a single athlete will be climbing at a time. Each athlete will have 3 attempts to clock their fastest time, and the fastest time logged will win gold in each age group.
Equipment, Gear and Belaying:
Participants are encouraged to bring their own harnesses and climbing shoes. Climbing shoes must be worn in all of the events. Gear rental is available for a fee, at the venue. Harnesses will be subject to inspection upon check-in and in the event of worn or unsafe equipment, a new harness will be provided for you.
Volunteer Belayers will be available during the event, however if you have someone who would like to Belay you, they may do so, provided that they pass a Belay Assessment prior to the event. Competitors may also belay each other if they so choose.
Event Schedule:
The practice days on Monday Oct 13 and Tuesday Oct 14 will have limited climbing available on the roped side due to route setting activities in preparation for the event. Because the Lead and Top Rope events will take place in the same venue, some of the available climbs will be the same for both lead and top rope events.
The Speed Event can be done either competition day. The speed lane will be open on October 15 and 16 from 9:00am to 2:00pm. The lane will also be open on the practice days for trial runs. Lead Climbing will be available October 15th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Top Rope will be available October 16th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Please note that from 9:00am to 10:00am, the gym will be open for speed climbing only.
MEDALS:
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers, respectively for each age group and division at the venue at the end of the day.
Medals for each event will be awarded at the event venue.
