Monday, Oct. 9 – Elephant Arch – (Red Cliffs Desert Reserve)
This is a great hike to see Southern Utah Red Rocks! Typical low land desert landscape that
ends at a cool arch that does resemble an elephant’s trunk. A lot of walking in sand, but worth
every step. If you struggle with balance, please bring walking sticks on this one.

 Moderate due to hiking in a sandy wash

 Walking along a dirt road and then a very sandy wash.

Tuesday, Oct. 10 –Owens’ Loop
Be prepared to see some incredible views of St. George, Santa Clara, and Ivins! A hidden
gem above the north-west edge of St. George. The single-track trail meanders along the cliff
edge of the Red Hill. As you loop to the north you will look down on Dixie Red Hills Golf
Course. A great hike to see scenic views of the area.
 2 ½ miles apx. roundtrip.
 Easy to moderate walk, uneven terrain
 2 hours apx.
 Walking along sand stone and uneven terrain, well maintained.

Wednesday, Oct. 11 - Historic St. George Live City Walk
Visit with some of the old pioneers as you see the historical buildings in down town St. George.
Meet Brigham Young, Jacob Hamlin and more! See the Tabernacle, Court house, Opera
house and Brigham Young’s winter home!
 2 miles rt apx.

 All Paved Walking
 3 – 3 ½ hours apx.

Friday, Oct. 13 – Pine Valley Reservoir and Historic Chapel
Travel 45 min north of St. George to beautiful Pine Valley Mountain. Elevation apx 6,000 feet.
Enjoy a leisurely walk around the Pine Valley reservoir and day use area. Stop by the historic
Pine Valley chapel on the way back. Bring a jacket.

Monday, Oct. 16 – Chuckwalla Trail off Highway 18
Enjoy the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve by walking a portion of the Chuckwalla trail system. See
beautiful red rock formations, scenic vistas, and slickrock sandstone. Possible wildlife
sightings of lizards, hawks, roadrunners and others.

Tuesday, Oct. 17 - Virgin River Trail
Enjoy a leisure walk down a small portion of the Virgin River Trail system to see the old pump
station monument. Trail follows south along the Virgin River from the Confluence trail head.
This is a down and back walk on a paved trail. If you would like more of a walk, when we
come back you can continue up the trail on your own. We will be walking from the check in
station.

Wednesday, Oct. 18 - Historic St. George Live City Walk

Thursday, Oct. 19 – Fort Pierce and the Dinosaur Tracks
Listed on both the National Register of historic places and the State of Utah Register of
Historic places. This small structure is one of only three remaining stone guard posts built
during Utah’s Black Hawk War. Then we are off to see the Warner Valley Dinosaur
Trackways. See 161 individual footprints and 23 trackways. This location provides an
excellent opportunity to see where dinosaurs walked in the early Jurassic period.

 Easy to Moderate but the path to the dinosaur tracks is sandy.
