Monday, October 3, was the first day of competition for the 30th anniversary Huntsman World Senior Games. Clear skies and cool temperatures were the rule of the day as Softball, Track & Field and Table Tennis along with many other sports kicked off today.

In the Road Race – 10K, 85 year-old Paul Flanagan, Lincoln CA, smashed the course record, beating the previous best time by more than five minutes.

On Tuesday, October 4, The Opening Ceremonies will top off the day. The show begins at 7:00 PM at the Legend Solar Stadium on the campus of Dixie State University. The show will feature an Olympic-style parade of athletes, singing and dancing and the lighting of a brand new cauldron, all celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Games. Three-time Olympic gold medalist, Debbie Meyer will also address the crowd.  A huge fireworks show will cap the evening. The show is free for everyone and all athletes as well as the community are invited to attend. With cooler temperatures, a jacket is encouraged.
