The Huntsman World Senior Games Friendship Tour was born in 2010 when 36 intrepid travelers visited China as goodwill ambassadors of sport and cultural exchange. Since that time Friendship Tours have visited Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Switzerland and Barbados. In 2017, the Tour will once again partner with the World Masters Games, this time in New Zealand. Consider joining us from April 21 – May 11, 2017, as we tour unforgettable locales and fulfill the Huntsman World Senior Games mission of fostering worldwide peace, health and friendship.
The World Masters Games offers 28 different sports from which to choose. A complete list of sports and disciplines is available. You will register for the sport of your choice on your own. The above price does NOT include registration fees to the World Masters Games.
The Tour will begin in Auckland, New Zealand, with 10 days of competition. Participants will have the opportunity to cheer on their new best friends on days they are not competing themselves, and optional side excursions will be available for those who are interested (information to come).
Once the World Masters Games are over, we will travel to Rotarua, with a stop in Waitomo to see the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. In Rotarua we will experience a combined Hangi (Dinner) and Concert of ancient Maori and proud warriors -a world that unfolds with a journey back in time through the Maori village of 'Te Tawa Ngahere Pa' among other amazing sites.
From Rotarua, we’ll transfer to Tongariro and enjoy Huka Falls. Located just a few minutes drive outside of Tau po town, this thundering 33 foot high waterfall is the most visited and photographed natural attraction in New Zealand, and for good reason.
From there we’ll see the sites in Wellington and then fly (flight not included in above price) to Queenstown. Here we’ll explore several movie sites from the Lord of the Rings movie series including the location of Isengard and the Forest of Lothlorien.
We’ll tour Milford Sound and have the chance to get to know Franz Josef Glacier.
The Tour will end in Christchurch. We'll see the best Christchurch has to offer; beautiful parks and gardens, quaint seaside suburbs and superb views of the city and surrounds. Our tour will explain the plans for the rejuvenation of the city following the major earthquakes of 2010 and 2011, and also incudes one of Christchurch's favorite activities - Punting on the Avon.
That evening we’ll enjoy a farewell dinner at the Christchurch Tramway Restaurant. We’ll experience the luxury of our 36 seater air-conditioned, colonial style dining tram and be treated to the finest service, cuisine and beverages New Zealand has to offer. We’ll get to incorporate fabulous dining with a sightseeing tour showcasing Christchurch's inner city vibrancy and heritage - truly a mix of the old and the new.
