FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL:

In an effort to fulfill our mission of fostering worldwide peace, health and friendship, we are excited to announce, on our 36th anniversary, the Friendship Festival. We invite all athletes and their friends, volunteers, sponsors and community members to join us for six nights of food, fun, entertainment and friendship. The festival will provide flexibility for participants to attend at their convenience on any or all nights of what is sure to be a new favorite opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones regardless of your sport.

REGISTRATION RULES:
• Swimmer's Age Division for competition will be determined by their age on December 31, 2023. National records will be based on swimmer’s age according to the requirements of the national organization for a short course meters event (December 31, 2019–Article 102.2.2-Age Determining Date).
• Participants may enter a maximum of 9 events. No changes will be accepted after September 1.
• Per rule 201.1.3 B - Pool One-Event Registration—An LMSC may offer a single-event registration that allows an athlete to participate in one event sanctioned by that LMSC. Membership cards shall not be issued for one-event registration. One-event registrants must be considered unattached and agree to be governed by the rules and regulations of USMS, except that their times shall not be considered for Top 10 tabulation and USMS or world records, All-American status, or any other USMS special awards; One-event registrants shall be identified as such in the meet results.
• To be considered for a Top 10 record you must be afilliated with a recognized USMS Club.

CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS:
• All Swimmers must check-in at the Dixie Center, 1835 South Convention Center Drive, between Sunday, Oct. 8 and Tuesday, Oct. 10. At that time they will receive their Huntsman World Senior Games ID Badge, athlete shirt and welcome bag.
• In addition, all swimmers must check-in at the Utah Tech University Human Performance Center 291 S 700 E, St. George, Utah 84770 to compete in the 400m, 800m and 1500m events on the day of there competition by 9:30am. Swimmers who do not check-in by this time will be scratched from their events unless prior arrangements have been made.
• Repeat, all swimmers entered in the 400m, 800M Freestyle or the 1500M Freestyle must also sign-in at the Meet Official's table the morning of the event by 9:30 am or they will be scratched from the event.

FORMAT/RULES:
• Event is Sanctioned by Utah Masters for USMS, Inc. (Sanction #343-S002) - USMS rules will apply. No Kinesiology tape can be used. Current USMS membership is required. To purchase or renew memberships, go to www.usms.org. Non-USMS members may also purchase a single event membership for a fee of $15.00 during registration.

• Only the times of currently-registered USMS members can be counted for USMS records and Top 10 times.
• Pool is indoor with 8 lanes (25 meter) and has a Colorado electronic timing system and starting blocks. Please Note: The length  of  the  competition  course  is  not  on  file  with  USMS.  Eligibility  of  times achieved in this  meet  will  be  contingent  upon pool  length measurement  and approval  with USMS;  if  bulkheads  are present,  their  placement  must  also  be confirmed  by  measurements at  the  meet  (USMS articles  105.1.7 and  106.2.1)
• Participants may start in the pool, or from the deck, instead of from the diving blocks, if they prefer.
• Practice available Monday, Oct. 9 - 9:00 am - 11:00 am or 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Practice available Tuesday, Oct. 10 - 9:00 am - 11:00 am or 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Swimmers need to present their Huntsman World Senior Games ID badge when using the pool on Monday and Tuesday.
• For all events except “800m and 1500m distance” events, all women will compete first, by age division, then all men will compete, by age division. We reserve the right to combine heats (age groups) to avoid excessive empty lanes.
• Heat sheets for each day's events will be available each morning prior to the start of the first event.
“Distance” Events:
• Distance events are the 400M Freestyle, 400M Individual Medley, 800M Freestyle and 1500M Freestyle.
• There will be a 15 minute break before the start of the 400M, 800M and 1500M Freestyle events.
• For the 800M and 1500M Freestyle, swimmers must sign-in at the Meet Official's table the morning of the event by 9:30 am or they will be scratched from the event.
• Events will be run as a combined men's and women's event, seeded by time and scored by age division.
• Events will be seeded and swum fastest to slowest.
• To enter the 800M and 1500M Freestyle, swimmers must enter a time in the space provided on the registration form. Except for the 800m and 1500m, Swimmers without a time for any of the distance events will be seeded in the slowest heat.
• The entry cut-off time for the 800M is 45 minutes and for the 1500M the cut-off time is 70 minutes. Any swimmer entering with a slower time will not be seeded or allowed to swim. Swimmers not finished after the cut-off times will be disqualified and must exit the pool immediately.
• Kinesiology tape is not permitted during swimming competitions.

MEDALS:
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded in each event for each age division. Medals for the morning events will be awarded each day prior to the start of the last distance event. Medals for the 400M Freestyle and 800M Freestyle will be awarded the following day, prior to the start of the first event. Medals for the 1500M Freestyle will be awarded at the conclusion of the event.
