2010 Games Activities

Opening Ceremonies – Oct. 5, 2010, 7:00 pm – Hansen Stadium, Dixie State College
Following the pattern of the Olympics, the Games kicks off with a grand Opening Ceremonies, which includes a Parade of Athletes, entertainment, fireworks and the traditional lighting of the Huntsman World Senior Games Cauldron.  There is no charge for admission. Dress warm for cool evenings.  Athletes should arrive at 6:30 pm for the Parade.

Western Dinner Dance – Oct. 7, 2010,  6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Washington County Regional Park - Fairgrounds
A wonderful evening to let your hair down, eat a delicious meal, and enjoy a live western band with line dancing. Tickets are available through regular registration or upon arrival at the Dixie Center for all athletes and guests.

Concert & Celebration – Oct. 12, 2010, 7:00 pm – Burns Arena, Dixie State College
Not to be outdone by the first week’s Opening Ceremonies, the second week of the Games kicks off with the Huntsman World Senior Games Concert and Celebration presented by 99.9 KONY Country.  The Concert and Celebration takes place on October 12, at the Burns Arena.  The gates will open at 6:00 pm and the show will start at 7:00 pm.  The Concert and Celebration is free to registered guests and athletes.  For the rest, General Admission tickets, available for purchase at the Burns Arena box office are just $8 and the public is encouraged to attend.  Get your tickets today by calling (435) 652-7800.

Global Cup - Oct. 11 - 14, 2010
Catch all the action as the best volleyball teams on earth battle it out for the title of World Senior Volleyball Champion.  International teams from various nations will take part in this four day tournament culimating in the finals match on Thursday, Oct. 14 at the Desert Hills High School.

International Festival – Oct. 15 (2pm-7pm) and Oct. 16 (11am-7pm) – St. George Town Square (50 Main St.)
Back for its third year at the Games is the International Festival.  This free festival will include international-flavored booths and entertainment. There will also be food from around the world available for purchase.  The festival will be a closing event for participants and a thank-you to the many sponsors and volunteers that make the Games happen.  It is a cultural experience..."not to be missed"!

Health Testing - Wednesday, Oct. 6 – Friday, Oct. 8 and on Tuesday, Oct. 12 – Thursday, Oct. 14 – Dixie Center
Life saving health screenings never came easier with the annual Health Testing.  Held at the Dixie Center at no extra charge to registered Athletes or to Official Registered Guests, this is a great opportunity to have vision, hearing, cholesterol, bone density, PSA, blood pressure, and other important tests done. Health Testing will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 6 – Friday, Oct. 8 and on Tuesday, Oct. 12 – Thursday, Oct. 14.
