Twenty-seven years ago I over came drug and alcohol addiction, as part of that experience I trained and participated in a couple of St. George marathons and half marathons until I blew out one of my knees ending my running career. Pouring concrete for 35 years beat my body up pretty bad. A knee replacement and three rotator cuff surgeries later, I never thought I could be physically active again. Neither did I think I would deal with addiction again, but 7 years ago I found my self being an alcoholic and addicted to pain narcotics.
In may of 2016 I decided to attend water aerobics at the gym with my wife and began swimming after the class. To make a long story short the 10 and 15 minute swimming, increased committing to make a change in my life style, again becoming sober and even quitting smoking. Now I swim a mile every day of the week becoming a swim junkie. I feel like that person I was, training for marathons 27 years ...
